Micro weddings in Vienna – and around the world – have become very popular in 2020 as the pandemic have changed our lives. Couples still wanted to get married and they did whatever the government restrictions allowed.

Micro weddings in Austria are not a new thing. This wedding of Kata and Lorenzo was before the pandemic and they didn’t choose this form of day because of the restrictions but because they believed in small weddings. They only wanted to invite their very close family and friends, and they chose not to have a party but a pleasant late afternoon lunch just outside Vienna. Berghotel Tulbingerkogel is a beautiful hotel in the forests near Vienna with a gorgeous view over green rolling hills. Berghotel Tulbingerkogel weddings are pretty popular, they organise big wedding parties but they are happy to accommodate a small micro wedding near Vienna too.
Their civil ceremony was in the centre of Vienna, ( Standesamt innere Stadt ) before which they just gathered in a small cafe. When Kata arrived to the location we organised a first look for them. They are a lovely smiley couple, their first look was emotional and happy.
The building of the civil ceremony in Vienna had a retro vibe, nothing fancy, but I think the photos will look great later on too with the elements which shows the era.
The hotel where they held the dinner was about a 20 minutes drive north-west of Vienna. When we got there we decided to go and take some wedding portraits of them around the area. We had a stroll through the forest, stopping at various locations, but we mainly wanted to show off the beautiful greenery and nature in their portraits.
Anyone planning a small wedding in Vienna I can highly recommend a similar day to this one.
