Arielle and Nic traveled all the way from Australia to celebrate their wedding at Gerbeaud, surrounded by their closest friends and family. But why Budapest? Arielle’s mother, a renowned author of a Hungarian culinary book, deeply values her Hungarian heritage and wanted to honor her roots in this meaningful celebration.
Their day began at the elegant Callas House, next to the Budapest Opera House. A few underground stops later, they found themselves in the heart of the city, at Vörösmarty Square, where the timeless Gerbeaud awaited them.

There is a huge balcony / terrace overlooking the garden which is perfect for a few portraits or can be the location for cocktail hour with a smaller wedding crowd.

Naseem and Priya’s wedding in Budapest was more than just a ceremony—it was a vibrant, multi-day celebration of love, culture, and togetherness. When we first met at the café in Hotel Marriott—where most of the wedding events would later take place—we talked about their families, backgrounds, and the traditions that would shape their special day.
With Priya’s Indian heritage and Naseem’s Irish-Egyptian roots, their union was a beautiful blend of cultures, customs, and faiths. To honor both sides of their families, they held two separate wedding ceremonies, each rich in tradition and meaning.
This post is all about their Indian wedding celebrations at Hotel Marriott Budapest.
Why Budapest?
You might wonder—why did they choose Budapest for such a grand celebration? The answer is simple: home and beauty. Naseem grew up in Budapest, and with his family still living here, he knew firsthand the magic of the city. For them, it was the perfect place to bring together friends and family from all over the world—not just to celebrate their love, but to experience the breathtaking charm of Budapest as well.
And what better way to kick off the festivities than with a sunset cruise on the Danube? Drifting past the illuminated Parliament, Buda Castle, and the iconic Chain Bridge, guests got a first taste of the city’s unforgettable skyline.
A Wedding Celebration Overflowing with Color & Joy
The wedding day itself began at Hotel Marriott, where excitement filled the air as preparations got underway. With over 150 guests in attendance, the hotel’s grand ballroom was transformed with elegantly decorated tables and breathtaking floral arrangements.
For the Hindu wedding ceremony, the expansive terrace beside the ballroom was set up with a spectacular view overlooking Buda Castle and the Chain Bridge—a dreamlike setting for the sacred vows. Hindu weddings are steeped in tradition, with intricate rituals that symbolize love, commitment, and unity. One of the most touching moments was when Priya’s father gave her away—a heartfelt exchange that left many in awe.
Beyond the traditions, Priya’s wedding day was a whirlwind of color, laughter, and joy. The vibrant hues of the décor, the rich textures of her bridal attire, and the warmth of family and friends made every moment unforgettable.

Kiscelli Museum is one of the most unique and breathtaking wedding venues in Budapest. Perched on a hill on the Buda side, this former Baroque monastery offers a setting unlike any other—a place where history, art, and romance come together to create an unforgettable wedding experience.
By day, Kiscelli Museum welcomes visitors as a cultural landmark, but by night, it transforms into a truly extravagant wedding venue.
The venue features three distinctive spaces, each with its own charm:
- A stunning inner courtyard, enclosed within the U-shaped building—perfect for an outdoor wedding ceremony beneath open skies.
- A grand sculpture hall, accessed through a striking green Baroque door, where history meets elegance.
- An ancient, unrenovated church, with its raw, exposed walls creating an atmosphere of moody romance and timeless beauty.
Kata and Niklas knew their guests were in for a surprise. Keeping the reception location a secret, they let the celebration unfold step by step. As the ceremony took place in the sunlit courtyard, guests had no idea they were about to step into the breathtaking, candlelit ambiance of the former church hall for dinner.
The transition from the warm, golden glow of the outdoor courtyard to the dramatic, intimate atmosphere of the church made for an unforgettable experience—one that perfectly reflected the magic of Kiscelli Museum.
