Writer’s Villa: The Perfect Start to a Magical Wedding Day

Writer’s Villa Wedding Photography, Budapest

Writer’s Villa is one of the most exciting and charming wedding venues in Budapest, nestled in the picturesque Buda Hills. This beautifully renovated 19th-century villa blends historic elegance with modern artistry, creating a unique and intimate setting for a wedding celebration.

Part of the Brody Land group, Writer’s Villa reflects their signature artistic style, with thoughtfully designed interiors and an effortlessly chic ambiance. The villa’s lush garden, filled with hidden corners, provides picture-perfect spots for wedding portraits and a serene backdrop for outdoor ceremonies.

With its warm, intimate atmosphere and exclusive setting, Writer’s Villa is a dream venue—one I would wholeheartedly recommend for couples seeking a wedding location with character and charm.

Felicia and Fredrik chose Writer’s Villa as the starting point for their wedding day. It was here that close friends and family gathered, preparations took place, and they shared their heartfelt first look before heading off to their ceremony.

Singapore Wedding Photographer | Ernest + Xin

Singapore Wedding Photographer

Being a Singapore wedding photographer was an absolute dream, a dream which came true.
This story started at the end of 2016 when Ernest emailed me about his plan. He and his girlfriend were going to come to Budapest, to the city they had both visited before and had both liked and Ernest wanted to propose on 1st of January 2017.

We talked about the possible locations and settled on the square in front of Fishermans Bastion. It was a very cold and foggy winter day and the trees were frosty, giving the morning a really magical atmosphere.

They arrived sipping hot coffee, Xin sat down on a bench and Ernest got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Ernest had another surprise, whilst they prayed together, their families showed up as they had also flown in to celebrate.

Fast forward a couple of months and they were organising their wedding for that summer. So Ernest got in touch with me again, and kindly invited me to document their wedding in Singapore.

We started discussing the possibilities and of course, I was more than happy to fly over to Singapore to meet them again. It’s hard to get to know kinder people than Ernest, Xin and their families.

They insisted that we (me and my family as we went over together) stayed with them in their house during our time in Singapore.

Their warm hospitality was certainly something we will never forget.

The wedding was split up into a few sections. On the wedding day, we started really early at dawn with getting ready, after which Ernest arrived, met Xin and her close family and then we all went to church together.

The most important part of their wedding weekend in Singapore was definitely the church ceremony in St James’ Church where more than 400 guests came to share their happiness.

Ernest and Xin didn’t want to have a full traditional wedding so they organised a dinner for their friends and the next evening a second one for their parents, family and their guests.

This started with a tea ceremony where they both served tea to the family members. This is a formal introduction of the couple to each other’s family and it is about paying respect. We spent a fantastic week in Singapore and got to know many wonderful people in the meantime.

Razzett L-Abjad Wedding Photography, Malta | Catie & Mikey

The party of the year, starring Catie and Mikey!

Razzett L-Abjad, one of the most stunning wedding venues in Malta, was the perfect setting for both the ceremony and the dinner reception. A recurring theme I absolutely love in the weddings I photograph is that the couples often come from different countries—and this was no exception.

Catie is from Australia, and Mikey is from Sweden. With Catie’s ancestral ties to Malta, they chose this semi-neutral location for their wedding. Their biggest wish? To spend as much time as possible with their friends.

To maximize their time with guests, we decided to capture their couple portraits before the ceremony. Of course, in the Maltese summer heat, that’s not ideal—but a good friend of mine had just purchased a beautifully aged palace in Zejtun and kindly let us use it as a backdrop for their portraits.

Though the palace was dilapidated and filled with antique furniture, its character, charm, and natural light made it a magical setting. Later, the ceremony, dinner, and party all took place outdoors, under a romantic canopy of vine leaves.

The atmosphere was unbelievable—the guests truly brought the energy and joy! In fact, Catie and Mikey chose not to have a wedding cake, as they didn’t want anything to interrupt the celebration. It was a beautiful testament to how incredible it is when two cultures come together to celebrate love, creating a joyful and unforgettable wedding.

After the wedding, Catie and Mikey headed to Gozo for a short honeymoon. One evening, we met up again to capture some timeless wedding portraits by the sea—a perfect way to end their Maltese wedding experience.

Wedding couple in forest near Potsdam

Potsdam Wedding Photographer | Johanna + Chris

This wedding in Potsdam was quite a location, but I’ll get to that in a minute.
First, about the couple. He is from Canada. She is from Germany. They met when both they were backpacking through South America. After returning home he said to her mum he would move to Germany. The rest is history as they say.

The getting ready and the wedding ceremony took place in Berlin near where Johanna and Chris live in the traditional looking Standesamt Schmargendorf but for the reception they wanted to find a location close to nature.

They did so near Potsdam by a lake in a restaurant called Landleben. The cocktail hour was outside with beautiful vistas over the lake but later the day they moved indoors for the dinner.

They had a little campfire and they also organised a breakfast get together the morning after. Their aim was to spend as much time as possible with friends and family who flew in for the celebration from several countries.

As I always do, I travelled to the wedding location a full day earlier in order to have time to look around and get familiar with the area and look for potential spots for portraits.

This time I found this particular area of the nearby forest with beautiful pine trees. We had about an hour to roam around the forest before getting back to spend the rest of the evening with all the guests.

London engagement photography with red coloured window

London Engagement Photography | Sarah + Simon

London has a special place in my heart. I used to live there several years ago when my wife lived there. I was fascinated by the city and I still am. I even published a book about London.

Now I feel lucky because I have weddings and other photo sessions to regularly go back there for. There is just so much opportunity for engagement photography in London.

You can literally get off the tube at any station, start walking in any direction and you will find great spots to explore. This is exactly what we did with Sarah and Simon a couple of days before their wedding in Wimbledon.

We initially started off in St. Dunstan in the East Church Garden which is a gorgeous little hideaway spot not known by many, that offers nice rugged backgrounds and some greenery - then we walked all the way to the South Bank stopping along the way here and there for more portraits.

When I start planning a portrait session I start by discussing potential locations with the couples, locations which have a meaning to them. That I believe is important - I want them to relate to places and things and not only deciding based on prettiness. With time passing by this will create stronger memories.

I'm always keen to return to London so let me know if you're planning a wedding there and let's start a conversation.

Sherbrooke Castle Wedding Photography - Vera & David

The mood, the ever-changing weather and the ever-changing landscape are just a few reasons why I love photographing weddings in Scotland.

This time it was in one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods of Glasgow, Dumbreck where all the houses look like castles, and in the middle of it all, there is the nicest one, the Sherbrooke Castle Hotel.

A wedding venue is nothing without people though. People who love each other, from all over the world come together to celebrate a fine couple, Vera and David. It was the perfect day, ceremony outside, it was great to see everyone so happy.

The following day, in the late afternoon we set out to have a little adventure. This is something I love doing if the couple is up for it, and we have the time for it.

We drove out to the Highlands and wandered around the beautiful scenery of Arrochar and the surrounding area for some more relaxed portraits. We had the Arrochar Alps in the background on one side and Loch Long on the other. Check out their story below!

Dates are limited for the upcoming season so if you are in the process of planning your wedding in Scotland or anywhere else in Europe, do get in touch soon. Till then, I'd love to be your Scotland Wedding Photographer.

Mtahleb Malta wedding couple portrait by the sea

Olive Gardens Wedding Photography Mdina, Malta

Olive Gardens Wedding Photography | Rachael & Andris

When Rachael reached out to tell me they were planning their wedding at Olive Gardens in Mdina and wanted me as their photographer, I was absolutely thrilled—for several reasons.

First, as a destination wedding photographer, traveling to capture a couple’s love story in a breathtaking location is not only exciting but a true honor.

Second, I love Malta. My wife is Maltese, and though we live in Budapest, we spend a lot of time there. I know hidden gems and scenic spots beyond the usual tourist paths, which allowed me to suggest stunning locations for Rachael and Andris.

Now, you might wonder—how did an Irish bride and a Latvian groom, living in Australia, end up choosing Malta for their wedding?

Simple—they love to travel and wanted a location with beautiful weather that was closer to their families than Australia. Their wedding day at Olive Gardens in Mdina was nothing short of spectacular. This stunning venue offers panoramic views of Mdina, which is especially breathtaking at night when the city is illuminated. If you’re searching for a magical wedding venue in Malta, this one should be on your list!

Despite a heavy downpour, a few adjustments to the schedule only added to the excitement of their memorable day. And since we had already planned for a post-wedding shoot, the following day, we set off to one of Malta’s most breathtaking coastal locations—Mtahleb. The dramatic cliffs and endless sea views created the perfect backdrop for timeless sunset portraits.

If you’re planning a wedding at Olive Gardens or anywhere in Malta—or even beyond—reach out! I’d love to be part of your journey.
