Micro Weddings in Malta – Intimate, Beautiful, Unforgettable
Micro Wedding in Malta
Hi, and welcome to my site! I’m a wedding photographer in Malta and across Europe, and I’d love to share some beautiful images from micro weddings I’ve photographed in Malta. If you’re considering an intimate wedding celebration, I’ll also guide you through how to plan your micro wedding in Malta.
What is a Micro Wedding?
If you’re unsure what micro weddings are, be sure to read my thoughts on them here.
Small weddings in Malta are nothing new, but during the pandemic, they became more popular—and often the only option due to government restrictions. Now, as we moved past those times, micro weddings remain a wonderful choice. Many couples have realized that having fewer guests doesn’t mean enjoying your wedding any less—in fact, it can make the experience even more meaningful.
Why Choose a Small Wedding in Malta?
- More Quality Time – You get to spend meaningful moments with your closest loved ones.
- Less Pressure, More Enjoyment – No strict schedules—just a relaxed, personal celebration.
- Better Budget Flexibility – With fewer guests, you can splurge on what truly matters, like decor, photography, and a dream venue.
- A Wedding & Vacation in One – Many couples turn it into a weekend or week-long escape in a beautiful destination like Malta!
With its rich history, stunning architecture, and breathtaking beaches—both sandy and rocky—Malta is the perfect place for an unforgettable micro wedding.
How to Plan Your Micro Wedding in Malta?
Dealing with paperwork and legalities can be overwhelming, so I highly recommend working with a professional wedding planner like WedInMalta to handle all the necessary arrangements.

A gasztronómia folyamatosan fejlődik, új helyszínek nyílnak, régiek megújulnak.
Segítsetek ti is.
Nyugodtan írjatok javaslatokkal, illetve esküvő fotózással kapcsolatban is keressetek.
Másik listáért amit össeállítottam kérlek kattints ide: Budapest Környéki Esküvő Helyszínek

Badacsony Esküvő Helyszín
1. Villa Patzay
2. Istvándy Liget
Badacsony mögötti, Káptalantóti közelében fekvő helyszín, nagyobb, akár 150 fős esküvőkre is alkalmas. Fűzfák árnyéka és vidéki romantika jellemzi.
6. Pici Szívem Badacsony
Badacsonyörsön elhelyezkedő páratlan panorámával rendelkező gyönyörű herlyszín. Mind a Balaton és Badacsony elénk tárul a 150 főt befogadni képes teraszról. Szőlős, nagy szépen ápolt kert, ősfák jellemzik a területet. Egyházi ceremóniára is van lehetőség a pici de annál hangulatosabb magán kápolnában. Remek választás ez a helyszín, nagy tapasztalattal rendelkező esküvő szervezőktől.
+1 . Csendes Dűlő
Ez a helyszín csak portré / kreatív fotózásra fogad párokat, nagyobb esküvő megrendezésére sajnos egyelőre nincs lehetőség. Ez a kiváló étterem Badacsony mellett az Örsi-hegyen fekszik, kivételes adottságú helyszín páratlan kilátással nemcsak a Balatonra hanem a badacsonyi hegyre is.

Balaton Felvidék esküvő helyszín
A magyar Toszkánának is becézett a Balaton északi oldalán elterülő dombság a Balaton Felvidék Nemzeti Park nemcsak gyönyörű de természetesen esküvő helyszínek is vannak bőven. Nem is akármilyenek. Ezek a kedvenceim:
-
Káli Art Inn
-
Liszkay Borkúria
-
Mersics Porta
-
Taberna Infinito
-
Lovas, Márffy Vendégház
-
Szent Donát, Csopak
-

Ide soroltam három balatonfüredi esküvő helyszínt is.
1. Egy Csipetnyi Nádas
Ez a Siófok melletti helyszín Töreki szélén, erdővel körülvett területen kiváló választás lehet annak akit a Balaton déli partja vonz.
2. Majthényi Présház
A déli part Badacsonyjának kikiáltott domb tetején elhelyezkedő présházról gyönyörű panoráma tárul elénk.
3. Szent Kristóf Pincészet
Nagy helyszín Zamárdiban. Akár 130 fős lagzit is lehet tartani itt.
+2 Vidéki Esküvő Helyszín
Két helyszín, ami ugyan nem balatoni, de úgy érzem érdemes őket megemlíteni abben a listában.
2. Villa Bogart
Alsóbogáti esküvő helyszín. Villa Bogart Magyarország egyik legszebb esküvői helyszíne. Gyönyörű kastély, ősfás park, minden ami egy nagyszerű esküvőhöz szükséges itt megtalálható.

Copenhagen Elopement Photographer | Anni + Luke

The little Copenhagen Elopement Guide
What is an elopement?
Originally it meant to escape and get married without telling your family and friends.
These days elopements are not so drastic, although this do happen from time to time, in most cases the families do know about it.
Reasons to elope
Couples wanting to elope chose this for different reasons. They want to go to a dream location where you cannot hold a big wedding, or they just want to be themselves and enjoy getting married on their own terms without the hassle of organising a big wedding.
Sometimes couples do include very few guests, like parents, making it into a micro wedding.
Also, sometimes couples organise a big party at a later date when they return home.
One more reason can be money related. The couples choosing to elope might not have the funds to organise a traditional wedding and they instead try to save up for other things in their life ahead.
If a big formal wedding is something you want to avoid, an elopement in Copenhagen might be the best and easiest choice for you.
Why should you elope in Copenhagen?
Copenhagen is a beautiful city. It is a modern and forward thinking capital. Architecture is fantastic, with both classic and modern buildings. Romantic canals and the vicinity of the sea makes it one of the most desirable destinations to elope.
- You don’t need your own witness. Let the registrar know that you don’t have a witness and they can sign your documents for you.
- Same-sex marriage in Denmark is allowed. In fact, Denmark was the first country to grant married status to same-sex couples in the world in 1989.
- Paperwork and documentation is easy and fast.
- easily accessible from all around the world.
The price of an elopement in Copenhagen. How much does it cost to elope in Copenhagen?
The cost of eloping in Copenhagen really depends on your budget. Apart from the official cost and administration fee you can go low-key or you can go all in.
I’m here to help you as a photographer, and I can recommend you some of the vendors too, including make-up artist and florist.
Here are 2 examples of what you can expect to pay:
High-end elopement package
- Administration fee 217€
- 2-3 night in a hotel 1200€
- photographer 3500 €
- hair make up 250€
- bouquet and boutonniere 250€
- wedding dress and suit 4000€
- total elopement price ~ 8417€
Affordable elopement package
- Administration fee 217€
- 2-3 night in a hotel or Airbnb 600€
- photographer 1800 €
- hair make up 200€
- bouquet 180€
- wedding dress and suit 2500€
- total elopement price ~ 5497€
What is the ceremony like in the City Hall Copenhagen? (Radhus)
It is short (5-10 minutes) but sweet ceremony. It is possible to exchange vows and rings.
At the end you sign your marriage certificate.
To make it seem to last longer I recommend to take portraits in and around the building. It is a very beautiful building with many options.

Copenhagen Elopement Photographer
I was so happy when Anni contacted me to photograph their elopement in Copenhagen. I’ve known Anni and Luke for a while now, Anni is a cellist playing concerts all over Europe and Luke is an english teacher in an international school. They lived in Copenhagen for a while when Anni was studying and so when they moved to Budapest they decide when they get married they would do so in Copenhagen the city they both love. What is not to like about Copenhagen? Probably the best cyclist infrastructure in the world, many good cafes and restaurants, and of course the world renown Scandinavian design all makes the capital of Denmark a very pleasant and wanted destination among couples wanting to elope or getting married in Denmark.
Photographing an elopement in Copenhagen is fabulous. It is so nice and such an honour to share a full day with just a couple and no one else.
Wedding photography is all about trust, and it’s even truer when photographing elopements.
Copenhagen has a lot to offer, the City Hall (Radhus) is a beautiful building not only for the official ceremony but for some portraits too.
The wedding day
It was a beautiful day. We only had a few plans for after the ceremony, and we thought we’ll see how things are going and how much time we have to do things. We wanted to go to some of their favourite locations to take portraits, but before we did that, we stopped at the Mikkeller bar for a famous brew beer. After that we passed by the Copenhagen Botanical Garden and ended up at the Copenhagen beach by sunset, where Anni and Luke read out their personal vows to each other. This was definitely the highlight of the day, with the beautiful area, majestic light and emotions flying high too.
In the evening we went to the Meatpacking district and took some final portraits with the neon lights, which felt like we were in a movie. Here is to more elopements!
Wedding Group Photos
Wedding group photos – do you really need them?
The first thing that comes t to my mind when it comes to taking the wedding group photos or family formals is that lots of couple think it’s a waste of time. They were told it takes a long time to take the group shots at weddings and they are not so important. And that couples prefer the moments captured and natural photos. Well, whilst I fully agree with the latter opinion, I still think group photos are very important.

The importance of group shots in wedding photography
From my experience as a wedding photographer for over 10 years and from actual feedback from couples I know that these are the photos , like the bride with her Granny or brothers and sisters together will be printed, framed and placed on the shelves at home. These photos will become part of your families’ history, a visual legacy. So, group photos at weddings are important!
But this doesn’t mean we have to spend an hour doing them, a bit of planning and putting together a good timeline for the day will make the process efficient.

How should we take the family formals at weddings?
As mentioned above everything starts with a good schedule of the day. Best practice is if the photographer together with the wedding organiser and the couple make the plan. Photographer can tell you where he/she thinks is the best light at which time of the day. At most wedding the big group photo comes right after the church ceremony or civil ceremony. Unfortunately though most times the best light is not in front of the church, the sun often shines directly towards the church. What I usually do is take this photo then I have the guests stand on the other side preferably with trees in the background and in a way that the sun comes from behind the guests. Like this we can utilise some natural rim light, and the people will not be squinting. Background should be chosen in a way that guests who are not participating in a group photo wont be walking behind the group – this is where time could pass quickly.
Sometimes it is a problem that all the guests get a glass of drink right after the ceremony. In this case I would wait for about 20 minutes for the guest to finish their first drink, and then I would do the family formals. Otherwise people would be looking to get their glasses to put down safely and it is an other cause for time to fly away.

How long should I spend photographing group photos?
I’d say 15 minutes should be enough for the groups, with the help of the MC, wedding organiser or the groomsmen we can move quickly. I actually like if a member of the family helps me as they know the family better, they know who to summon for the photos. The photographer can take care of the positions and the details of the groups.
One more thought here, if there are divorced parents at the wedding it is good to discuss who will be in certain groups with whom to avoid unpleasant conversations at the wedding.
What are the standard family group photographs at a wedding?
A group photo list certainly helps but not in any ways the most important thing. I usually start photographing the close family members, parents, Grandparents, siblings then relatives and finally the friends. If we do it in this order and for whatever reason we have to stop the photos we will have the most important ones already done.

Again, a list is helpful but if you haven’t prepared one do not worry.
Here is a shot list for your family formals.

10 Ways to Simplify Wedding Group Shots – Top Tips
- Prepare ahead, plan the timing right. Keep in mind, times might differ for the big group photo and the smaller family shots.
- For creative group shots discuss beforehand, find the location and let all participants know about the details.
- Have the MC, wedding organiser, the best man or a groomsman gather the guests for the photos.
- Chose a background where guests cannot walk around.
- Chose an unobstructive background. People are important on these photos so the should stand out from the background.
- Have the sun shine from behind the groups or at an angle to avoid squinting.
- Have a list of the most important groups prepared, if you don’t have one don’t panic, start with close family members.
- Wait for guest to have their first drink after the ceremony so they don’t have to find places to put down their glasses.
- Wait for standbyers to take their iPhone shots in order to have all attention to the main camera.
- Enjoy this part of the day, it doesn’t have to be stressful if you run out of time don’t worry, dinner will wait for an other 10 minutes.

Castle Wedding Austria - Schloss Ernegg
Castle Wedding Austria – Schloss Ernegg
Truth is, I love Castle weddings in Austria, or as they call the Austrian castle venues, schloss. They are stylish, full of history, they all have a beautifully kept garden and in most cases a forest around it and as an extra a lake. All perfect backdrops for some portraits and as a whole for a wedding.
Schloss Ernegg is a 12th century home located in the foothills of the Austrian Alps. A little road through a tiny village leads up to the castle. Kind of hidden, the whole building can only be seen from a distance form a nearby golf club. It features a charming courtyard and a garden at the back of the building. Both of these are really nice spots for the wedding ceremony and/or to welcome the guests.
Barbara and Lukas chose the garden as the location of the wedding ceremony and I think it was the best choice. Surrounded by nature but the Castle as the backdrop just looked and felt stunning.
It was an early autumn day and the sun was shining through the leaves of the huge trees. The majority of the guest were coming from Austria, particularly from Vienna.
I have arrived a day earlier and as always, i drove around to see if I can find some spots for portraits. Just 5 km away I did find a really nice location, on top of a hill by the road. The setting sun was well visible on the rolling hills, and on the wedding day we drove out from the castle just 20 minutes before sunset to take my favourite shots of the day.
The wedding dinner was on the second floor of the castle in the so called ,Drawing Rooms’. After the few heartfelt speeches and the delicious dinner provided by the castle the guests continued the celebration once again on the ground floor in the bar area.
